Canada Post has announced that postal services will continue during ongoing negotiations. However, we will continue to offer FedEx shipping to Canada as an additional shipping option. Please see below and our International Delivery page for more information.
We received word yesterday that Canada Post may be going on strike for an indefinite period starting July 2, 2016. For this reason, we will begin offering FedEx International Ground and FedEx International Express shipping to Canada starting immediately.
To avoid delays due to the Canada Post strike, please select a FedEx shipping option on the checkout page.
If you do choose to have your order shipped via FedEx, please note the following:
- All customs clearance fees, import duties, sales taxes, and applicable customs fees are the responsibility of the importer (the buyer ordering the goods for delivery in Canada).
- We have no control over the amounts of import duties, taxes, and fees, which are determined by your government.
- FedEx may charge you an additional fee to clear customs on your behalf. See below if you wish to self-clear customs.
- We cannot mark your shipment as “Gift” to help you avoid or reduce your taxes and duties.
If you place an order and select any of the following Postal Services, your order will be put on a “hold” status until cancellation or end of the Canada Post strike is confirmed:
- First Class Mail International
- Priority Mail International
- Express Mail International/EMS
FedEx Customs Brokerage Fees
Depending on the value of your order and your chosen shipping method (Ground vs. Express*), FedEx may charge you an additional fee to clear and pay customs on your behalf. This saves you the time and hassle of doing your own paperwork and having to go to a CBSA office to clear customs yourself.
* If you choose FedEx International Economy or FedEx International Priority, the FedEx customs entrance fees (CEF) are included in the shipping rate.
Self-Clearing Customs
If you are ordering items for personal use, you may be able to avoid paying the FedEx customs brokerage fee by self-clearing your parcel directly with the Canada Border Services Agency; however, you must be willing to handle your own paperwork and make a trip to your local CBSA office.
Click here for instructions on how to self-clear a shipment for personal use. If you are ordering items for commercial use, please visit the CBSA website for more information.
Using a Third Party Customs Brokerage Company
If you do not wish to pay the FedEx brokerage fee and you also do not wish to self-clear, you might consider contacting a brokerage company such as Border Bee which may charge you a lower brokerage fee than FedEx.
Please note that we are not affiliated with this company in any way and the link to Border Bee is not an endorsement of the service. See links section below for more companies.
Additional Information & Help
Whichever method you choose – FedEx customs brokerage, self-clearance, or third-party brokerage, please note that we cannot intercede in your customs matter as we are a small US-based business and customs clearance is the responsibility of the importer. Below are links for additional information in the hopes that they are helpful. If you have questions or need assistance, we recommend contacting your local CBSA office, your local FedEx office, or a brokerage company.
