Before You Order: Measure your Horse/Pony/Mini

For your own safety and successful use of your Unicorn Browband™, you need to order a browband in the correct size for your horse, pony, or mini. A Unicorn Browband™ that is too tight will annoy your horse and affect the function of your bridle. A unicorn browband that is too loose cannot stay upright and may even slide down over your horse or pony’s eyes which is very unsafe.

There are two easy way to determine your horse’s correct browband size:

1. Measure a browband from a bridle that you know fits your horse perfectly, or
2. Measure across your horse’s forehead while he/she is wearing the bridle you intend to use with the Unicorn Browband™.

Do not just order the largest size available to avoid measuring. If you put a horse-sized browband on a pony or a pony sized one on a mini, you will end up with a horn that tips over onto the face, which is not only unattractive but dangerous but can easily be avoided by taking a few minutes to determine the size you need.

Is an Economy Unicorn Inferior to a Natural-Look Unicorn Horn™ or Unicorn Browband™?

The horn is still made with the same care and attention to detail that we put into our more expensive horns. Due to the material used, it may be a little softer than our other higher-priced horns; however, it is still solid enough to stand up straight when it is put on your pony and successfully turn him into a Unicorn.

Why does the Economy Unicorn Horn cost less?

Our more expensive Unicorn Horns are made with silky material which costs more and requires more meticulous handling when we work with it. By using a less delicate material and setting the horn on a simpler attachment band, we save time and money in the production process which makes it possible for us to pass the savings onto you.

Do I need to measure my pony to order an Economy Unicorn Horn?

It is recommended that you measure your pony because while the fit is flexible with an elastic browband, you want to make sure the fit will be snug so the horn stays in place better.

How should I measure my pony?

Measure directly across your pony’s brow including the bottom edge of the bridle or halter. Or measure the entire length of your best-fitting browband (including the loops). Do not overestimate the size or round up or the elastic browband may be too loose.

Will the attachment be very obvious?

We offer a choice of black or white elastic. If you have a black bridle a black elastic band will look more natural. If you have a white pony and a dark bridle, you can order a horn on a white band and color in the sides of loops with a permanent marker to match your browband or halter (permanent marker is not included; you will need to find one in a color that matches your bridle or halter).

Can my pony run and jump wearing an Economy Unicorn Horn?

It will depend on how well you fit the browband on your horse or pony. With a snug fit, your horn should be fine for most casual and recreational activities. However, we are aware that many people overestimate sizes to avoid the task of measuring (and end up ordering draft sizes for ponies), which can result in a browband that is too loose to hold the horn securely. So please take the time to measure your horse or pony to make sure you are not disappointed.
