Customers familiar with our shop probably remember that we usually take some time off in the summer to recharge and get ready for our Halloween-Christmas order season, which is pretty much non-stop from the beginning of September through the 2nd week of December. Halloween rush (September through October) is our craziest time of year, in which we pretty much work 7 days a week plus holidays in order to get your costumes to you for your pre-Halloween costumes classes, parades, and parties.
Thanks to all of you who have ordered from us these last few months (which we really, really appreciate!), we have actually stayed open longer this summer and cut our summer break to 4 weeks instead of the usual 6 or 8 weeks.
Why do we need so many breaks?
We know it must be frustrating for you to come to our site hoping to place an order only to find that we have gone on break. For this we apologize and offer an explanation which we hope you will understand.
Every one of our products is made by hand, which is pretty strenuous work. When we get a custom order (about 97% of our orders are), we hand-make each item according to the options you choose. When we get expedited orders, we need to extend our work day so that everyone’s order still ships out on time.
As order volume increases, the physical work of sewing – which results in eye strain, headaches, hand strain, back and shoulder tension – starts to build up until it becomes necessary to take time off to recuperate. Due to higher volume of orders in late spring/summer, and then in the fall, we have found that we need to take breaks twice a year – at the end of each summer and beginning of winter.
2016 Summer Break Custom Order Cut-Off
If you will be needing something in the most of August or early September, please place your order before 5PM Los Angeles Time, Wednesday July 27th, 2016.
All existing orders placed before this announcement will ship as scheduled.
Pre-Made Items Will Still Ship
We still have a few pre-made, ready-to-ship items that can be ordered and shipped within 1-2 business days while we are on break. But please note they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and all available items are already listed in the category.
